Setup New Email Account - Outlook XP/2002/2003

  1. The purpose of this page is to describe how to set up a new email account to work with OlympusNet email servers.
  2. Open Outlook XP/2002/2003 by double-clicking its desktop icon or by selecting it from the Start Menu, All Programs list.
    • If you have not started Outlook before, a Startup wizard will open automatically. In the first dialog box of the wizard, click Next. In the E-mail Upgrade Options dialog box, click the second option, Do not Upgrade, unless you have a good reason to do otherwise. Click Next. In the E-mail Accounts dialog box, click Yes when asked if you want to set up an email account. Go to step #2 below.
    • If you have started Outlook before, click the Tools menu at the top of the Outlook window and select E-mail Accounts. If you do not see E-mail Accounts listed, click on the chevrons  at the bottom of the menu. In the dialog box, select the first option, Add a new e-mail account, and click Next.
  3. In the Server Type dialog box, choose the radio button POP3. Advanced users may choose IMAP if needed. Click Next.
  4. Under the User Information section, in the Your Name field, enter your name as you would like it to be displayed. In the E-mail Address field, enter your email address.
  5. Under the Logon Information section, in the User Name field, enter your email address (your email address is also your user name.) In the Password field, enter your password. Be sure to check the checkbox Remember password.
  6. Carefully follow the text below for the appropriate settings for your account and enter the details  into the fields marked by red rectangles in the screenshot following the text.
    a. For email (
    • Under Server Information on the right, enter in both fields: Incoming Mail Server, and Outgoing Mail Server
    b. For email in your own domain (
    • Under Server Information on the right, enter in both fields: Incoming Mail Server, and Outgoing Mail Server
    c. For both account types
    • Under User Information, enter your personal name and your email address
    • Under Logon Information: the User Name MUST be your email address (, or
    • Enter the password for the email address entered
    • Click More Settings when finished
    1. In the Internet E-mail Settings dialog box, click on the Outgoing Server tab. Check the check box My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication. Verify that Use same settings as my incoming mail server is selected.
    2. Click the Advanced Tab. Change the Outgoing Server (SMTP) Port from 25 to 587. Click the check boxes to enable SSL.  Click OK to close Internet E-mail dialog box. Click Next, then click Finish.
    3. Close Outlook, close any programs you have open, turn off your machine and reboot to make sure your settings are applied.
