SFTP Connection Settings

Host Name or Server

  • The Host or Server is the name of the server (or computer) where your web space is stored.  In your SFTP client it may called one of  the following names:
Host Name, Host/URL, Host, Connect to and Server.  This is the computer to which your SFTP client connects.
  • For Business Web accounts the host name or server is your domain name without the www  (e.g., example.com).

Username

  • The Username, included in the OlympusNet Web Account welcome letter, is the name that you use to login.   Depending on your SFTP client, it may also be called User ID or User.
  • The username is also the name of your home directory.  See below for information about the home directory.

Server Type

  • Server Type, sometimes called Protocol or Connect using,  is the type of FTP protocol used to connect to the server.  OlympusNet requires the SFTP or SFTP/SSH protocol.

Password

  • The password given to you by OlympusNet, included in the Web Account welcome letter.

The following screenshots show the connection settings for some commonly used SFTP clients.

  • Cyberduck
  • FileZilla
  • Fetch

    Key Fingerprint

    • With all SFTP applications, the first time that you log into the server, you will receive a warning about host authenticity.  You will be asked to verify the key fingerprint and possibly cache this key on your computer.   The OlympusNet server keys are as follows:
      8d:b4:97:f6:61:2a:c9:09:03:cb:64:85:b8:8b:a9:4c or 0d:9b:f1:2d:a0:6e:9f:3a:30:ae:c9:5d:14:15:8a:1d
One of the two numbers above should be displayed in the warning that you receive.
Once you accept a key to your cache, you should not be prompted for it again unless OlympusNet changes the key.
