The Palindrome Dance Club has been around for a while. They sponosor dances at the Palindrome the third Saturday of each month. These folks go for swing dancing but everyone who loves to dance is always welcome. There is a free dance workshop before the show for anyone interested starting at 7:00.All ages welcome. No tobacco, drugs or alcohol.
Chuck Easton, local guitar superhero, was on board again for this gig as well as some horn players from the Dukes of Dabob dixie band for a couple of sets of hard-hitting R & B again. It was really fun for all involved the first time (10/18/97) when we broke the Dance Club's all-time attendence record and this one was just as fun.
Anyone and everyone interested in playing and learning to play jazz is always invited. This is a free event. All ages are welcome. The emphasis is on learning jazz improvisation. These have all been successful and very fun engagements to date.

George and Lindsay celebrated the first anniversary of the opening of their music store. A good music store had been sorely needed in Port Townsend for a long time and the musicians in town sure do appreciate them. There was great live music all day provided by many of the local musicians who appreciate Crossroads so much (not to mention the leftover Halloween candy).

There is usually a free dance workshop before the show for anyone interested starting at 7:00.Chuck Easton, a local guitar legend, was on board for this gig which was an incredible pleasure for all concerned. Chuck (on flute and trombone) was joined by a couple of very fine high school horn players for a couple of sets of hard-hitting, classic R & B. Many thanks to Leslie Lewis and Marj Iuro from the Wild Rose Chorale who sang some back-up and lead vocals for the band. It was one of the best turn-outs the Dance Club has seen due in large part to several wonderful articles in the PT Leader by Sandy Hershelman. We started a little late due to a misunderstanding on the bandleader's part (insert sheepish grin - it was a REAL busy weekend - see above and below), but we stayed after a bit to make it up. A wonderful time was had by all and the band is very much looking forward to the next one. Stay tuned...
Nan Toby Tyrell is a very fine local poet. I played string bass and congas while she read some of her poetry. The audience was quite receptive and the turn-out was very nice. Signed copies of her book, 'Lost and Found', were available at the reading.
This is going to be a free monthly (3rd Sunday) event. The next session is planned for October 19 from 2:00 to 4:30. Even though things went very well this first time, some format improvements are planned to make it even better.
Port Townsend's jazz guitar legend, Chuck Easton, also performed from 9:30 to 10:30 on both dates.
