OLD TIME RELIGON SET
The cabs in this set are particularly important to me. The beautiful multicolor Chrysocollar in the middle was given to me by my jeweler friend Steve Reamer. I had it for a long time before starting to use it, and then I broke it as I moved it from one backing to another. I glued it back together. No way was I not going to use it after dreaming about what I would make with it for so long! The green round cab is a gift from my other jeweler friend Rick Reaser, owner of Ryk's Custom Jewelry. It is inscribed in Arabic with the traditional prayer to Allah. Rick's father worked for the government when he was a boy, so Rick lived until he was about 7 in Turkey. This was his pocket piece for many years. I used little leaves to give the necklace a sort of Hindu Deco feeling and for the earrings, I found some great little green glass Buddhas at a bead show. Some filigree gold tone beads I bought on Just Beads during the Aurora charity auctions, carved turquoise beads and cloisonne coupled with crystal and gold tone findings make this necklace and earring set feel really exotic and special because of the gifts from my friends and the world religions represented.
