WONDERFUL BOOK

HERE IT IS ON PAGE 63

LOVELY LACY LAVENDER LAVALIER

A lavalier just means a pendant necklace and it alliterates hence the name. This is a very special piece for several reasons. One is that the central stone is unusually beautiful, a big gorgeous piece of Holly Blue chalcedony I got cheeap from my jeweler buddy Steve Reamer. Using techniques I found in old Beads to Buckskins, I surrounded the cab with lavender Swarovski crystals, amythest and opaque tanzanite beads to keep it all in the same color scheme. This was my second attempt at doing a strung type strap with stations in the middle and a woven section at the back, like in a split loom necklace. Later on, Suzanne Cooper brought out SECOND LOOKS and gave good instructions on how it OUGHT to be done. The final reason this is such a special piece is that Margie Deeb selected it to be the front piece for one of the chapters in her beautiful book THE BEADER'S GUIDE TO COLOR. It's on page 63. The book is bound to be a classic with not only superb advice on color for beaders, but many gorgeous pieces in the gallery and chapters and some stunning projects as well.
