We've just made our course change from North to East, pointing directly at the Victoria Harbor entrance. The  1kt. tidal current at our back was a nice psychological  boost, but the breeze in our face reduced it to little help at all.
With over 5 hours in our boats, the idea of getting done and out, was beginning to look real good.
This is our break at 16+ miles. During our 5 minute breaks, Laura was munching on PowerBars and bananas. Having eaten my fair share of these during my years of competitive cycling, I brought brownies and Snickers to keep me going on this trip. This was to be  Laura's last PowerBar of the day, in fact after only one bite, the rest went to the fishes.
After 5 hours and over 17 miles of paddling, Laura was through with bananas and PowerBars, and began to get a little cranky... not a good thing with another hour ahead of us.
Captain Gene came to the rescue with a box of Little Debbie Cream Filled Oatmeal Cookies....Yay!
Smiles all around again!
