One point of interest here is that the tip of PIII seems high in this illustration. This is the same illustration used to show the position of PIII in the healthy foot, only I erased the wall and added some red. It may look too high, but it is exactly where it should be.

The green stuff is a rim pad.

The orange stuff is a sheet metal plate. This plate precludes any environmental sole pressure that might be caused by bedding, etc.

There are four 3/8" bolts (two shown) holding the plate to the shoe. It's sometimes a good idea to put borium on the bolt heads for traction. The removable plates allow the owner to change dressings under the pad.
