Skiing on Mt. Rainier

There is a great skiing opportunity for those enthusiasts who are willing to carry a lot of equipment up to 12.000 feet, while enjoying spectacular views a warm and sunny August day on Mt. Rainier. The recommended route is to go up to Camp Muir. The red line shows the skiable distance (4000 vertical feet), while the blue line shows the climbing distance (1500 vertical feet).

The mountain offers several kinds of skiing. Although the avalanche prone ice-falls off the mountain face provide excellent modul-runs, they are not recommendable for responsible people. However, they are nice to look at!!

The snow-fields themselves offer somehwat flatter skiing. The run down the mountain takes about 40 minutes, and is quite a fantastic trip. Especially since one has to earn it by climbing all the way up the mountain!!
