Ridge Augementation.


Introduction

Ridgeaugementation procedures is used primarily to create an aesthetic and functional situation for arestorative dentist so that replacement teeth will look as natural as possible. The following case illustrates this , the treatment planning and the restorative care was completed by Dr Henry Nichols in Port Townsend, Washington.


Figure 1. This patient was seen on an emergency, with a fractured left maxillary central incisor. Radiographically both the central incisors were considered to have a poor prognosis and were subsequently extracted.


Figure 2.This picture showsthe resultant soft tissue defect, which if left untreated would lead to an unsightly pontic and unaesthetic prosthesis.


Figure No 3 A connective tissue graft was removed from the palate and used to augement the edentuolus ridge.


Figure 4. This shows the final restorative treatment with excellent tissue contour and prosthetic result.
