In memory of my daughter Grace
December 5th, 1993 --- July 26th, 1998
I am putting this site together in memory of my daughter who left us too soon
and with a broken heart. Pictures
Our
Story
We started out, as many couples with problems in having our own children.
We went through some fertility efforts, but did not pursue it for very long. It
seemed to us to be OK to adopt. With the use of considerable resources (time and
money) we succeeded! Our boy, Dennis came to us as a new born from Michigan. In
the words of Tom Robbins, "he blew shafts of honey into the baffles of our
hearts". After a year we decided that he needs a bigger family. We live
rurally and our son is half African and half Caucasion we thought a sibling
would be good for all of us. Once again with considerable effort we adopted our
pride and joy, Grace! Parenthood was hard, but we were doing well, our kids were
happy, well and full of life!
On July 26th, Dennis went off with his cousins, his first time without
his parents. His sister was unhappy, "Dennis has all the fun!". Well,
I decided I would try and give her a fun day, and asked if she would like to go
to a lake. This changed her mood quickly. We packed a lunch, a bunch of swimming
parafinalia and headed out. We were having fun, talking and laughing until she
said she was sleepy, As she was falling asleep I was going around a corner and
someone was completely in our lane. It was a tight corner and there was no time
for evasive action. Needless to say that day has become the worst day of my
life.
Our lives have been permanently altered. This happened now about 7 months ago
and we're still deep in out grief. Our saving grace has been our son Dennis
without him all would seem useless.
This accident happened on a gravel road and I think the person driving the
other vehicle thought it was OK to drive anyway they wanted. To those who drive
these back roads, remember, other people do use them and your actions could
distroy someone elses life.
Pleasee-mail me with any
comments! I'd ask for suggestions but I'm not even that good at this yet.
