| I have been writing, illustrating, and editing technical and business communications since 1983, when I became a junior technical writer for a company that produced IBM-compatible terminals, printers, and controllers. | |
|
Two years later, I started writing technical
specifications and user manuals for a small company that
developed custom financial transaction software.
In 1989, I moved to the Pacific Northwest and became an independent consultant. I work from my home, which overlooks the Puget Sound. |
|
| I have created over 300 technical manuals, online help files, and marketing documents, ranging from a one-page data sheet to a 1450-page programmer's reference guide. My client list includes over 40 companies in the United States and Canada. Email me, and I'll send you a list of references. |
My Primary Tools
Microsoft Word has been my main tool since 1987, and I like it.
I started writing on a UNIX machine (what you saw was not what you got),
so MS Word, especially in Windows, was a real change for the easier.
I began using CorelDRAW in 1990 when I designed my house plan on it,
and I have been using it for business and for fun ever since.
I learned Visual Basic, Excel, Access, Corel Photo-Paint, and MS Paint
long ago for a variety of business uses. Including all the
programs I've documented, I have learned hundreds of
software tools, but my favorites are the ones I have mentioned.
My Education
B.A. Mathematics. University of Colorado, Boulder.
M.A. History of Religions. Arizona State University, Tempe.
