  Earnings in Skamania County were 65.0% of TPI in 1990. By 2000, earnings were 69.0% of TPI. Dividends, interest, and rent were 16.7% (compared with 22.2% in 1990); and transfer payments were 14.3% (compared with 12.8% in 1990).
  From 1990 to 2000, earnings increased on average 6.2% each year; dividends, interest, and rent increased on average 2.5%; and transfer payments increased on average 6.8%.

• EARNINGS BY INDUSTRY
  Earnings of persons employed in Skamania County increased from $48,879* in 1990 to $74,881* in 2000, an average annual growth rate of 4.4%.
  The largest industries in 2000 were state and local government, 24.5% of earnings; federal civilian government, 17.6%; and services, 16.1%.
  In 1990, the largest industries were durable goods manufacturing; federal civilian government, 24.3%; and local government, 23.1%.
  Of the industries that accounted for at least 5% of earnings in 2000, the slowest growing from 1990 to 2000 was durable goods manufacturing, which decreased at an average annual rate of 4.2%; the fastest was services which increased at an average annual rate of 14.7%.
