2000 were state and local government, 26.7% of earnings; services, 18.7%; and
durable goods manufacturing, 15.9%. In 1990, the largest industries were
state and local government, 24.6% of earnings; durable goods manufacturing,
23.1%; and services, 12.5%. Of the industries that accounted for at least 5%
of earnings in 2000, the slowest growing from 1990 to 2000 was durable goods
manufacturing, which increased at an average annual rate of 2.0%; the fastest
was services which increased at an average annual rate of 10.2%.
