REGULAR PROPERTY TAXES FROM 1991 to 2001
- In ten years King County Local Regular Property
Taxes (home taxes) went up 100.3%! An annual growth rate of 7.2%,
(blue line).
- King County is one of 39
counties in Washington. It is part of the Seattle-Bellevue-Everett Metropolitan
Area. Its 2000 population of 1,737,290 ranked 1th in the
State.
King County Per Capita Personal Income (PCPI) Over the past 10 years county PCPI went up an average of 5.9% each
year. State wide PCPI rose 4.5%, 4.2% nation wide. The PCPI was $25,723 in
1990 ranking 1th in the State. By 2000, the PCPI was $45,536 ranking 1th in
the State, 146% of the State average of $31,230, 155% of the national average
of $29,469.
- King County Total Personal Income (TPI)
Over the past 10 years the average annual growth rate of TPI was
7.3%. The average annual growth rate for the State was 6.5%, 5.5% nation
wide. In 1990, the TPI was $39,026,631* ranking 1th in the State. By
2000, TPI was $79,109,294* ranking 1th in the State, 42.9% of the State
total.
- COMPONENTS OF TOTAL PERSONAL INCOME
(TPI)
TPI includes the earnings (wages and salaries,
other labor income, and proprietors's income); dividends, interest, and rent;
and transfer payments received by county residents. Earnings were 70.9% of
TPI in 1990. By 2000, earnings were 75.4% of TPI. Dividends, interest, and rent
were 17.2 % (compared with 20.0% in 1990); and transfer payments were 7.4%
(compared with 9.1% in 1990). From 1990 to 2000, earnings increased on
average 8.0% each year; dividends, interest, and rent increased on average
5.7%; and transfer payments increased on average 5.1%.
- EARNINGS BY INDUSTRY
Earnings of persons employed in King County increased from
$33,398,603* in 1990 to $71,151,919* in 2000, an average annual growth rate of
7.9%. The largest industries in 2000 were services, 38.9% of earnings;
durable goods manufacturing, 10.0%; and retail trade, 8.5%. In 1990, the
largest industries were services, 26.0% of earnings; durable goods
manufacturing, 17.6%; and state and local government, 9.2%. Of the
industries that accounted for at least 5% of earnings in 2000, the slowest
growing from 1990 to 2000 was durable goods manufacturing which increased at an
average annual rate of 1.9%; the fastest was services which increased at an
average annual rate of 12.3%.
