    Earnings were 50.0% of TPI in 1990. By 2000, earnings were 46.2% of TPI. Dividends, interest, and rent were 46.2% (compared with 50% in 1990); and transfer payments were 22.1% (compared with 18.1% in 1990).
    From 1990 to 2000, earnings increased on average 3.7% each year; dividends, interest, and rent increased on average 4.5%; and transfer payments increased on average 6.7%.
  • EARNINGS BY INDUSTRY
    Earnings of persons employed in Clallam County increased from $536,729* in 1990 to $765,878* in 2000, an average annual growth rate of 3.6%.
    The largest industries in 2000 were state and local government, 24.5% of earnings; services, 22.8%; retail trade, 12.9%.
    In 1990, the largest industries were state and local government, 19.1% of earnings; services, 17.2%; durable goods manufacturing, 16.6%.
    Of the industries that accounted for at least 5% of earnings in 2000, the slowest growing from 1990 to 2000 was durable goods manufacturing, which decreased at an average annual rate of 5.3%; the fastest was services which increased at an average annual rate of 6.6%.
