earnings were 63% of TPI. Dividends, interest, and rent were 20.5% (compared
with 23.0% in 1990); and transfer payments were 16.5% (compared with 16.4% in
1990). From 1990 to 2000, earnings increased on average 6.4% each year;
dividends, interest, and rent increased on average 4.7%; and transfer payments
increased on average 6.0%.
- EARNINGS BY INDUSTRY
Earnings of persons
employed in Chelan County increased from $695,812* in 1990 to $1,250,007* in
2000, an average annual growth rate of 6%. The largest industries in 2000
were services, 25.1% of earnings; state and local government, 16.2%; and retail
trade, 11.7%. In 1990, the largest industries were services, 21.6% of
earnings; state and local government, 15.8%; and retail trade, 11.4%. Of the
industries that accounted for at least 5% of earnings in 2000, the slowest
growing from 1990 to 2000 was wholesale trade (5.4 percent of earnings in
2000), which increased at an average annual rate of 3.0%; the fastest was
transportation and public utilities.
