Taxes (home taxes) went up 80.5%. An annual growth rate of 6.3%,

Over the past 10 years county PCPI went up an average of
1.5% each year. State wide PCPI rose 4.5%, 4.2% nation wide. The PCPI was
$17,462 in 1990 ranking 15th in the State. By 2000, the PCPI was $20,320
ranking 32th in the State, 65% of the State average of $31,230, 69% of the
national average of $29,469.

(TPI)
Over the past 10 years the average annual growth
rate of TPI was 3.4%. The average annual growth rate for the State was 6.5%,

TPI includes the earnings (wages and salaries, other labor
income, and proprietors's income); dividends, interest, and rent; and transfer
payments received by the residents of Adams County. Earnings in Adams County
were 66% of TPI in 1990. By 2000, earnings were 58.5% of TPI. Dividends,
interest, and rent were 21.2% (compared with 20.4% in 1990); and transfer
payments were 20.3% (compared with 13.6% in 1990). From 1990 to 2000,
earnings increased on average 2.2% each year; dividends, interest, and rent
increased on average 3.8%; and transfer payments increased on average
7.7%.
- Earnings By Industry
Earnings
of persons employed in Adams County increased from $166,050* in 1990 to
$204,190* in 2000, an average annual growth rate of 2.1%. The largest
industries in 2000 were state and local government, 19.6% of earnings;
nondurable goods manufacturing, 15.4%; farm, 14.0%. In 1990, the largest
industries were farm, 36.3% of earnings; state and local government, 14%;
nondurable goods manufacturing, 15.4%. Of the industries that accounted for
at least 5% of earnings in 2000, the slowest growing from 1990 to 2000 was
farm, which decreased at an average annual rate of 7.2%; the fastest was
transportation and public utilities which increased at an average annual rate
of 8.4%.
