POSTCARDS from ALASKA

I didn't imagine that a seafaring boat could look so much like a house. I've moved into the galley now, where Sally bakes bread, the ingredients stored in big jars lined up on the shelves. She is making scones and the air is filled with the smell of oranges she's peeled for "zest." The woodwork and details on the boat is beautiful. The tables are mahogany with green velveteen cushions on the benches. There are two stained-glass windows and a good library stocked with books on natural history.
