CHIASSON TEMPERAMENT INDICATOR--
WHAT IS IT?

The Chiasson Temperament Indicator is a computerized version of a temperament test developed by Phyllis Chiasson and Hal Leskinen during the last fifteen years.  It is inspired by the work of Katharine Cook Briggs and her daughter Isabel Briggs Myers, who devised the widely used Myers Briggs Temperament Indicator.

What Does This Test Tell Me?

Temperament assessments tell us about a person's way of noticing and valuing things in their experience.  From this knowledge we can infer traits which depend on how people perceive their world and how they make decisions.  Temperament profiles are the result of this way of learning about people.

What Doesn't This Test Cover?

Be aware that temperament profiles don't give enough information to pigeonhole someone into a homogenous category.  Temperament tells us nothing about a person's intelligence, psychological health, life experiences, sensory system, innate reasoning method, motivation, or character.  Remember, any person will always be much more than the sum of their parts---no matter how many parts we identify.

How Do I Use the Test Results?

Knowing about temperament can be empowering and fun.  It's liberating to know that some of our personal qualities are inborn and are not the result of laziness or neurosis.  From temperament we can predict in a general way such things as personal compatibility, how people will behave in given situations, and what types of careers may be a good fit.  This information can also help us establish realistic expectations of ourselves and others, and make us more effective in creating the lives we want to live.

And finally, a word of caution...

No verbal self-test can pretend to be 100% accurate because language is inherently ambiguous.  Please bear that in mind as you use your profile as a tool for deeper self awareness.
