This document describes the steps required to set up a new domain name on OlympusNet.
Registering a domain name is the first step in establishing a web identity.
All domain names must be registered with the InterNIC. There are several steps to the
registration process if having OlympusNet register your domain name:
- Read OlympusNet
Terms
and Conditions.
- Fill out OlympusNet's
Domain
Name Registration Form. Your registration form will be sent automatically
to the OlympusNet DNSmaster and reviewed for correctness and completeness; if clarifications
are needed, you will be contacted. The OlympusNet DNSmaster submits your application
to SRSplus, our registrar of choice. SRSplus sends confirmation to the contacts listed on your registration
form when the registration is complete.
Do not publicize your domain name until you have received confirmation
from OlympusNet that the registration is complete and you have tested your domain name email.
That is, do not have your domain name printed on business cards or stationery until you
have that confirmation. Even if the "WHOIS" database reported the domain name as not
registered, there is always a chance that it will be unavailable, and it is frustrating and
expensive to have promotional materials reprinted.
If you intend to host your domain name on OlympusNet, we recommend that you use our registration
process, rather than registering it with a different registrar, to avoid errors in the registration.
If you wish to register your domain name yourself, see Registering Your Domain Name without OlympusNet Assistance.
Please be advised that if you register your domain name with another registrar and then decide that you wish to
use our registrar, a registrar transfer will not be able to be initiated until 60 days after the initial registration date.
- Send mail to dnsmaster@olympus.net telling us which domain service(s) you
require.
We will acknowledge your mail.
- Once OlympusNet receives the confirmation from SRSplus, we will set up
the services you requested in Step 3. We will then post your domain name to
our OlympusNet domain name server as well as to a backup domain name server
elsewhere on the Internet. We will send email to you when your
service is set up, telling you your password and Web site location. We suggest that you test your
domain name mail and/or Web site at that time.
