A Domain Mail handling routes mail sent to your domain name. Domain name
service is a requirement for this service. That is, your domain name
must be hosted on OlympusNet.
If you have a domain name and are not going to establish a
Web site immediately, you may want to have Domain Mail handling.
When a domain name is hosted by OlympusNet, the domain name's incoming mail is routed
in one of two ways:
- The first option is to have all domain mail routed to one person or mailbox.
This means that all mail sent to "any_name@yourcompanyname.com" will
appear in the same inbox. The address is specified by you when you sign up
for the service. The senders of the mail do not know that address; they only see
the "any_name@yourcompanyname.com" which they entered when they sent
the mail.
- The second option is to have your domain name's incoming mail routed to different people or
mailboxes. This means that you can specify who will receive which mail. For
example, you may wish
to have mail addressed to "sales@yourcompanyname.com" and
"billing@yourcompanyname.com" directed to different people. You specify
these routings (called "domain mail aliases") when you sign up for the service.
You may have as many aliases as you wish. A "catch-all" alias is also established; it is used for
mail sent to "any_name@yourcompanyname.com" which is not listed in your routing
specifications.
Note that many email programs such as Eudora and Outlook Express have the ability to sort
and filter mail based on the contents of the FROM: and TO: lines of an email message.
This means that you can sort incoming mail on your own desktop, without specifying it in your
domain mail routing.
Costs
- $5 non-refundable setup fee (Domain name registration or transfer
is $15 additional)
- $15 per quarter
- $9 per quarter per mailbox (One mailbox is the minimum
requirement.)
