PORT TOWNSEND DSL ACCOUNTS |
|
OlympusNet offers "always-on" broadband services, including Multi-Tenant and Single Tenant
DSL to the Port Townsend area.
OlympusNet will not be able to offer residential DSL prices in Port Townsend and Sequim until Qwest installs
DSL equipment in those respective Central Offices.
Why DSL? Consider DSL for the following reasons:
Note that for all broadband accounts we recommend putting a barrier between your internal office network and the Internet. A simple filtering router such as the Linksys BEFSR41 or the higher security Netgear FR328S are supported by OlympusNet. Choose the Linksys if budget is a concern, choose the Netgear if higher security and the backup modem port outweigh the cost. For more robust protection we recommend stateful inspection firewalls. Both routers may be bought from places such as PC Connection or other online stores. OlympusNet will optionally supply this equipment and attach it to your network for an extra charge. Multi-Tenant DSL AccountMulti-Tenant DSL Accounts (business class service) are for buildings with 5 or more tenants who want DSL service. The phone lines must all enter the building at a single point. Typically, each tenant will have a local area network. OlympusNet supplies a device that allows you to put your internal network on a private subnet (192.168.X.X) using DHCP so that you don't have to configure each computer on your network. Benefits

ResponsibilitiesIf you don't have a network administrator on staff, we urge you to hire an outside person or company to help you with your network. For a list of people and companies who offer that service, visit our Independent Consultants. Once your phone line is installed, OlympusNet will confirm that your DSL connection to the Internet is accessible from the OlympusNet supplied router. After that test, it is up to your network administrator to connect your network and any firewalls to the OlympusNet supplied router. If you have network problems that appear to be OlympusNet's responsibility, we will diagnose the problem at no charge if the problem was OlympusNet's. If it was not OlympusNet's problem, we will charge $75 per hour. Please ensure that the distance between the place where Qwest installs the DSL phone jack inside your building and the location of the hub in your network is less than three feet. If it is not, the Qwest installer can move the jack. Qwest typically charges $95 plus tax for that service for which OlympusNet will pass the cost on to you. |
