FTP Connection Settings

This document explains the information that is needed to set up an FTP program.  An FTP (File Transfer Protocol) program is used to move files to your web (i.e., host) directory on the OlympusNet Web Server.  This is commonly called "uploading your Web pages."   To set up an FTP program connection, you will need four pieces of information:  your Host, your Username, your Password, and your Remote Host Directory.

Please Note:  if your Domain Web account was set up on or moved after 2007-02-20, you must use SFTP.    Please see SFTP Connection Settings.

You must use FTP if your web account was set up before 2007-02-20.

Host or Host Name

The Host or Host Name is the name of the server where your host directory is stored.
For Business Web accounts it is:  satsop.olympus.net
For Personal Web and Community Web accounts it is:  www.olympus.net

Username

Your Username is the same as your directory name and is given to you by OlympusNet.

Password

The password is given to you by OlympusNet.

Remote Host Directory

The remote host directory is the directory where your web page is stored.  The name of your directory is as follows:
Business sites: /biz/yourDirectoryName
Personal sites: /personal/yourDirectoryName
Community sites: /community/yourDirectoryName

Please see the Uploading Your Web Pages To OlympusNet page for step-by-step setup instructions for some common FTP programs.
