2wire 2700HG Wireless Gateway
|
This document explains how to configure the 2Wire 2700 DSL Gateway
(modem) for Windows, Macintosh and other computers.
The 2Wire 2700 DSL Gateway can support multiple computer connections.
You can connect up to 4 computers directly to the 2Wire DSL
Gateway using 4 wired ethernet connections. The 2Wire 2700 DSL
Gateway is wireless-ready and can support multiple wireless
connections. The 2Wire 2700 DSL Gateway will also support one USB
connection to a Windows (98 and up) computer.
OlympusNet will assist you with an Ethernet or USB connection for one computer.
OlympusNet does not provide tech support for
networking or wireless connectivity problems.
Please note: after the 2wire 2700DSL Gateway has been set up,
additional computers can be connected directly to the Gateway using an
ethernet cable. There is no need to reconfigure the
Gateway. The 2Wire modem is wireless-ready. To connect additional computers
using wireless, join the 2Wire network, and use the key code printed on the bottom of the modem
for the network password. If further help is needed setting up a network, you may need to contact a Networking
Consultant for help. You may also contact
Qwest technical support for help with a wireless connection at 1-800-247-7285.
- After your Windows or Mac computer is connected to the 2Wire 2700 DSL
Gateway (Ethernet for Windows/Mac, or USB for Windows), open a
Web browser (e.g., Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Safari, etc.).
You will get a message "cannot connect to server" or
"page cannot be displayed." Please ignore these
messages and, in
the address bar, enter http://192.168.0.1
then press Enter on the
keyboard.
Note: Windows users, before proceeding, please be sure to turn
off Dialup settings in the Control Panel: click on Internet
Options then select the Connections tab. Click on the box beside
Never
dial a connection, then click OK.
- The Summary screen will
display. Click on Advanced Configuration Settings.

- Select your time zone from the drop-down menu.

- In the Select Connection Mode section, select RFC 1483 Mode.
Under Connection Type, select Bridged from the drop-down
menu. Under Addressing, select Static. Enter the IP Address,
Subnet Mask and Default Gateway from the configuration information contained
in the email from OlympusNet, (Welcome to OlympusNet DSL, ISP Worksheet).
Under DNS server, select Specify DNS Server
settings. Enter 65.117.224.77 in the Primary DNS field.
Enter 198.133.237.1 in the Secondary DNS field.


- Click on the SAVE button at the bottom of the screen.

- When you see the Set up is complete screen, you may close your
browser. Your DSL is ready to use.
