Setting Up OlympusNet DialupUnlimited for Windows 98, ME, or 2000

This document provides instructions for changing OlympusNet Dialup to DialupUnlimited for computers using Windows operating systems 98, ME, or 2000.  To set up DialupUnlimited you will need three pieces of information: your DialupUnlimited Username, the DialupUnlimited Password, and the DialupUnlimited Local Number.

 DialupUnlimited Username

The DialupUnlimited username is made from your primary email address, in this form: username@mars.olympus.net.

For example, if your email address is janedoe@olympus.net, then your DialupUnlimited username will be: janedoe@mars.olympus.net.   Please note that the username janedoe@mars.olympus.net is never used as an email address to send email. It is used only in the settings to establish the connection to DialupUnlimited.

DialupUnlimited Password

Your DialupUnlimited password will be the same password as for your OlympusNet email address. In the example above, the DialupUnlimited password would be the same as the one for the email address, janedoe@olympus.net.

DialupUnlimited Local Numbers

The phone number that your computer dials to connect to DialupUnlimited is as follows:

Port Townsend:  344-4635
Sequim and Port Angeles:  504-9435

If you are dialing from an area that is not a local call to Port Angeles, Sequim, or Port Townsend, please check the DialupUnlimited Modem Numbers List  for a local number in your city and state.

Entering your Username, Password and Local number in Windows

1. Click the Start menu, then click Settings, then select Control Panel.   
   
          
   
2. The Control Panel opens.  Double-click the Internet Options icon.  The Internet Properties box appears.  
3. Select the Connections Tab.
4. Click on the Add button.
   
   
5. The Make New Connection box appears. Enter OlympusNet in the Type a name for the computer you are dialing box, and click Next.
   
   
   
6. Enter the local Area code and local connection number into the Telephone number box.  For example, enter 344-4635 for Port Townsend, or 504-9435 for Sequim or Port Angeles.
   
   
   
7. Click next, then click Finish.
   
   
   
8. The Internet Properties box appears.  Click the Settings... button on the right.
   
   
   
9. olympus.net Settings box appears.
   
   
   
10. Enter your username in the User name box, (e.g., janedoe@mars.olympus.net).  Enter your password in the Password box. Click OK to close the box. Click OK to close the OlympusNet settings box, and click OK to close the Internet Properties box.  Close the Control Panel.  DialupUnlimited is now set up on your computer.

* Important: To use email with a DialupUnlimited connection, SMTP authentication must be enabled. Please see Setting Up Mail Programs for help in setting up your email program for authentication.
