Setting up OlympusNet Dialup for Mac OS X

This document explains how to configure the  Dial-up settings in Mac OS 10  to access OlympusNet. To set up Dialup you will need three pieces of information: your Dialup Username, the Dialup Password, and the Dialup Local Number.

Dialup Username

The Dialup username is your primary email address.  For example, if your primary email address is janedoe@olympus.net, then your Dialup username will be: janedoe@olympus.net

Dialup Password

Your Dialup password will be the same password as for your OlympusNet primary email address. In the example above, the Dialup password would be the same as the one for the email address, janedoe@olympus.net.

Dialup Local Numbers

Please consult our Modem Telephone Numbers page for a few common local area dialup numbers, and links to local dialup numbers for nationwide locations.

Entering Your Username, Password, and Local Number in OS X

  1. Click the Apple menu in the upper left-hand corner, and select System Preferences.  System Preferences appears.
  2. Select the Network icon.  The Network box appears.
  3. The Location box shows Automatic and the Show: box shows Internal Modem. (If Internal Modem is not shown, click on the double arrows and select Internal Modem.)
  4. Select the PPP tab.   Based on your location, enter the appropriate telephone number using the Dialup Modem Numbers list. Enter your username in the Account Name box, (e.g., janedoe@olympus.net).  Enter your password in the Password box.   Verify that Save password is checked.
  5. Click Apply Now and close Network by clicking on the red button in the upper left corner.  Dialup is now set up on your computer.
