Now in its eighth year, each issue of this tri-annual publication presents an eclectic assortment of quality literary fiction. Although local authors were featured in the beginning, submissions are now received from all over the world. The significant volume of manuscripts provides the editorial staff a large pool from which to choose. The publication is carried in bookstores throughout the country, and is listed in major indices of literary magazines. Critical response has been positive, and an annual award is presented to the story that is voted 'Best of the Year'. Pangolins are also available locally at Turtle Bluff II and the Imprint bookstore in Port Townsend, and Port Books in Port Angeles.

The pangolin is a threatened species of anteater that curls into a ball when challenged. Like its namesake, Pangolin Papers represtents a threatened species: literary fiction. We are overwhelmed by the submissions of talented writers who find few outlets for their work. Like pangolins, our writers are mostly solitary and nocturnal. But we have decided that, rather than allow literary fiction to curl up and die, we shall continue lumbering in search of an audience that appreciates good writing.
