The Arts Commission promotes and encourages public programs to further the development and public awareness of and interest in the arts, and to act in an advisory capacity to the city government in connection with the artistic and cultural development of Port Townsend.

The Port Townsend Arts Commission presents two annual awards, one being the Angel of the Arts to an individual and the other, Patron of the Arts to a business or business owner.

Angel of the Arts Award honors an individual who has volunteered significant time or made a contribution of in kind service, specifically to the arts community. The Patron of the Arts Award recipient is a business or business owner who has made a special effort to promote the arts supporting outstanding contributions to the cultural life of our city.
