NOPLUG Mission
The primary purpose of a "Users Group" is to promote the use of Linux through the active exchange of information. This can include formal presentations, classes, projects, "install fests" where experienced users help beginners to install and set up Linux, and general moderated discussions where questions, problems, help, tips and tricks can be discussed. There is a social aspect in that you can talk about your favorite operating system without having someone's eyes glaze over and probably make some friends who share your interest in Linux.
Strictly speaking, Linux is the operating system (kernel) and GNU is the body of free open source software that can be run under Linux. NOPLUG will of course try to promote both.
Students, beginners, hobbyists, professionals, experts and those who are just curious about Linux are all welcome and can have some fun learning something and promoting Linux.
