DOSEWALLIPS RIVER CORRIDOR:
Ensure continued stock use in the Dosewallips area while the issues
addressing the road access washout are resolved. Establish new trail
opportunities where possible. Help with maintenance of the
horse camp near the end of the road.
LOWER BIG QUILCENE TRAIL EXTENSION, STOCK PARKING, AND
ENHANCED TRAIL USE:
Complete the horse trailer parking area widening project at the intersection of the
Tunnel Creek road and the Big Quilcene road. Build a trail connecting this
parking area with the current lower terminus of the Lower Big Quilcene Trail (LBQT).
Develop a mid-trail connector to the LBQT using the old Quilcene Point Road
grade near Townsend Creek. Work with the Forest Service on finding
resources for replacing the failing bridges on the LBQT and with the Washington
Trails Association for the provisioning of ongoing maintenance.
GOLD CREEK and BEAR MTN LOOPS:
Extend the Mt Zion Project to the south side of Mt Zion by extending the trail
from the existing Mt Zion trailhead to the Gold Creek Trail (Pacific Northwest Trail
route) following the path of FR2830 (Sleepy Hollow Road). Create a second connecting trail through the pass between Bear Mt and
the Zion ridge. Develop a large trailhead parking area on the FR 2800 road.
Create a large Gold Creek Loop trail utilizing the Sleepy Hollow Road and the
new section of the Gold Creek Trail (former FR 2860 road). Establish a
stock friendly route across the Eddy Creek canyon.
MT ZION RECREATION AREA PROJECT:
Develop a multiple use campground with overnight horse facilities as well as a multiple
trail network in the upper Trapper Creek, Snow Creek, and Salmon Creek basins.
Connect to and help with the development of the Pacific Northwest Trail route
through this area and across Mount Zion. Provide riding access to Blyn
Mountain to the east and Bear Mountain to the west. Provide additional access routes into the
Olympic National Park.

SKOKOMISH RIVER TRAIL (LEBAR HORSE CAMP)
Assist other BCH groups and the Washington Trails Association (WTA) with the reconstruction effort on the Skokomish River trail
located in the Hoodsport/Shelton area and accessible from LeBar horse camp.
Help provide ongoing maintenance at the horse camp. Establish
new trail riding opportunities in the area.
COUNTY, STATE, PRIVATE &
LOW-MID COUNTRY PROJECTS
ANDERSON LAKE STATE PARK AND VICINITY:
Assist the Quimper Trails Association (QTA) and State Parks with trail
maintenance within the park. Construct trail infrastructure
including bridges and turnpikes. Work with park officials on opening the
trails up to area equestrians. Develop a parking plan that will
accommodate stock trailers. Develop new trail opportunities on the
surrounding timberlands owned by Olympic Resource Management (ORM).
GIBBS LAKE
COUNTY PARK AND VICINITY:
Assist the QTA and Jefferson County with trail maintenance within the park.
Construct trail infrastructure including bridges and turnpikes. Open up
part of the trail on the backside of the lake to horses and provide a connecting
route to neighboring ORM land.
LARRY SCOTT MEMORIAL TRAIL (LSMT), OLYMPIC DISCOVERY TRAIL (ODT/ODT-XC), AND
PACIFIC NORTHWEST TRAIL (PNT):
Work with Jefferson County, local organizations, and other public agencies on
establishing and maintaining a horse trail along the Larry Scott Memorial Trail route, the
Olympic Discovery Trail, and the Pacific Northwest Trail. All of these trails
will either use the same or neighboring trail corridor on the Quimper Peninsula east of US101,
whichever maximizes variety for users without impacting area residents. Assist
with new trail construction across Jefferson County. Provide
maintenance to the established sections of the ODT-XC horse trail. Assist in the planning process for establishing parking provisions,
which will accommodate horse trailers.
MILLER PENINSULA STATE PARK (PARKING AREA):
Work with neighbors, various trail groups, and local and state agencies to develop a
parking area near, on, or adjacent to Miller Peninsula State Park. This
parking lot should be large enough to accommodate vehicles towing horse
trailers. Monitor plans to develop the park in order to ensure
continued equestrian access.
SANDY SHORE LAKE TRAILS AND PARKING AREA:
Widen the parking area at the Sandy Shore Staging Area. Work with ORM on keeping area free of dumped garbage.
Add more trail routes around the lakes in the Sandy Shore area.
