Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) like U.S. GPS are providing real time positioning possibility world wide. However, absolute positioning with such systems is usually, due to various sources of errors, limited to a certain level of accuracy. In contrast, differential positioning (like DGPS) can drastically improve the accuracy of positioning by canceling out the effect of errors which are common at two adjacent stations. Persian Golf and Oman Sea at the border side of Iran has never been equipped with a DGPS service. In this paper we present our experience in design of a DGPS network at the Persian Golf and Oman Sea border of Iran which can provide a well coverage of needed accuracy for precise hydrography, navigation, and exploration activities at a range of 20 kilometers form sea border of Iran.
