Modified Goldstein filter for filtering noisy SAR interferograms

A modification to the Goldstein filter is proposed for filtering interferograms with strong noise. The least square-based one-dimensional Vondr¨¢k filter is extended into two dimensions, and utilized to smooth the spectrum of each segmented interferogram patch. The smoothed spectrum is then back-transformed into the interferogram space. Experimental results obtained with simulated and real datasets show that the performance of the proposed filter is 33% to 64% better than some existing methods. The stronger the noise is in an interferogram, the greater the improvement is.
