In many practical application and studies, the Earth is treated as a sphere. For those application and studies it is important to have a reference sphere as the best spherical fit to the Earth. In this study we have used the theory of hydrostatic equilibrium, mean Earth spherical gravity potential theory, and implicit function theorem to derive a new best fit sphere to the Earth based on current best estimates of the fundamental geodetic parameters {GM, omega, W0}, namely, {gravitational constant, angular velocity of the Earth, and geoid's potential}. The mathematical formulation and the numerical computations that have led us to the new value for radius of the reference sphere R=(6,370,991.248±0.053)m will be presented.
